BRIMM Appoints New Director

Mining Microbiome, Water Stewardship,

The Bradshaw Research Initiative for minerals and Mining (BRIMM) is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. John Steen, effective 16 July, 2020. Dr. Steen has been a member of BRIMM for over a year and served as the BRIMM Ambassador from the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering.

Dr. Steen is the EY Distinguished Scholar in Global Mining Futures and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering. Dr. Steen is a leading scholar in the area of innovation and sustainable development in the resources sector. Prior to coming to UBC in 2019, he was the Head of the Strategy and Entrepreneurship department at the University of Queensland Business School.

We hope that you will join us in thanking Dr. Greg Dipple from the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, who served as the inaugural Director of BRIMM over the past five years.
